Powderhouse Park: Somerville MA

Taking a break from Somerville's urban landscape is easier than you think.  A wonderful opportunity to enjoy a bench under the trees awaits you at Powderhouse Park, also known as Nathan Tufts Park. This 4.3 acre site of trees and winding paths in located at Powderhouse Circle at the intersection of Broadway and College Ave. Look for the Old Powder House on site, originally built in the early 1700's as a windmill, the tower was used to house powder during the revolutionary war and was raided by the British in 1774. First built for use as a windmill by John Mallet in the early 1703 or 1704, the Old Powder House was sold to the colonial government of Massachusetts in 1747 and it is the oldest stone building in Massachusetts!

Take your coffee or snack to a bench or a seat in the grass and take in a bit of history at the same time at Somerville MA's Powderhouse Park. For more information about Somerville MA or Somerville MA real estate, look no further than here: Community and Real Estate Info, Somerville MA
