Boston SkylineA city of neighborhoods. Boston, MA real estate in each one of the 21 neighborhoods is diverse and unique from Allston to West Roxbury.

Some of the history and highlights of a few subsections:

Beacon Hill: One of Boston's oldest communities, Beacon Hill gets its name from a beacon that once stood atop its hill to warn locals about foreign invasion. Its architecture and layout is reflective of old colonial Boston, consisting of brick row houses with beautiful doors, brick sidewalks, and narrow streets. Charles Street, the neighborhood's main thoroughfare, is lined with antique shops and restaurants.

East Boston: East Boston was originally a center of shipbuilding. Today it is a community of diversity. That diversity is reflected in the neighborhood's myriad of ethnic restaurants. The housing is a mixture of old and new, including many restored triple-deckers. East Boston residents enjoy fantastic waterfront views of the city skyline.

North End: The North End is home to American patriot Paul Revere. This area is one of Boston's most historic and oldest residential neighborhoods where people have lived continuously since it was settled in the 1630's. Tourists come from near and far to sample Italian cuisine, enjoy a cannoli or a cappuccino, and explore its narrow streets. Residents can enjoy strolling and relaxing in the newly renovated Christopher Columbus Park. During summer evenings the park is host to a performing arts series.

Roxbury: Once a farming community, this neighborhood serves as the heart of Black culture in Boston, is undergoing a renaissance. Hundreds of new business and housing initiatives have revitalized the neighborhoods of Dudley Square, Crosstown and Grove Hall areas.
